1st Texas Titan 2000XD with 10 Inch Coil

1st Texas Titan 2000XD with 10 Inch Coil

The Titan 2000 boasts more features than many other detectors that cost much more money. An advanced micro-processor allows this detector to utilize “notch discrimination,” “four-tone audio discrimination” and an “automatic ground balancing system” that will allow you to operate on all types of soil with outstanding results in each! It also features nine zone programmable visual target identification settings that enable you to find treasure as soon as you take this detector out of the box!

The large LCD screen will display a target identification and visual depth readout in 1” increments as far down as 8”. An instant target discrimination control, notch mode control, low battery warning, sensitivity level control, and power on and off buttons are only a touch away on the large, easy-to-read control box.

This detector is as simple as “A – B – C” to use! Scan the ground with your searchcoil, when the coil goes over a target the detector will give you: A. an Audio Target Identification sound. B. Arrows on the right side of the meter to indicate the probable target zone. And C. an estimated “Depth Scale” on the left side of the meter to tell you how far down to dig! Dig your target and continue to scan.

I give the 1st Texas Titan 2000 XD detector, a five. I am new to detecting, so therefore may be inexperienced. However, after spending a few hours with this detector, it has given me a wealth of knowledge. I became interested in detecting when I saw a friends "Gold Bug." He let me borrow it for awhile. I detected around my yard and found several nails and pull tabs. Not being experienced, I didn't know about ground balance, discrimination etc. My friend showed me how to ground balance the detector and adjust it for discrimination before I took it home.

I started shopping for detectors on the internet, and read reviews from folks who bought them. I wanted one that could prospect and coin and relic shoot. However, I had a budget. I found the Kellyco web site a started shopping. I choose the 2000XD because first, it was within my budget and second, it was simple to use. This detector has automatic ground balancing, and easy to read and use push button features. Changing coils is a snap and easy lengthening and shorting. It is light weight and comfortable to swing. I have spent hours swinging this rig without fatigue. The battery life is pretty good; I can go about 24 hours before changing out the batteries.

The detectors face has pictures of different metals and coins. It begins with a red section for iron, five cent, and pull tabs. The second section white, gold, screw bottle cap, zinc, 1 cent and 10 cent. The last section or blue section "sliver" starts with 25 cents, 50 cents, and 1 dollar. In the digital screen an arrow points to the picture and a number appears, indicating the depth of the object. On the far left, there is a plus or minus button for sensitivity.

On the far right is a plus or minus for discrimination. The bottom buttons are power, single discrimination, all metal discrimination, and notch. The instruction booklet is easy to read and understand. Like I said, this is a simple unit. Turn it on and go! I would recommend it to beginners and professionals alike.

"Titan 2000XD: A 'Pound For Pound' Knockout!"

In boxing, there’s a pound for pound, ranking, where boxers are ranked taking their size into consideration. Viewing the Titan 2000XD metal detector with this consideration, you’ll see that dollar-for-dollar; this is one heavyweight of a value, weighing in at a hair under $300.

My purchase followed a long conversation with Tony, a Kellyco phone rep. I was impressed by not just his wealth of first-hand experience, but that he spent as much time listening as talking.

I wanted a beginning-to-intermediate machine that was affordable, dependable, straight-forward, and versatile enough to hunt both Virginia Civil War relics and New England beach treasures. He recommended the Titan 2000XD, and I can’t thank him enough.

Titan is a product line of “extra depth” detectors that 1st Texas manufactured for Kellyco. (Bounty Hunter is another 1st Texas line.)

When UPS delivered my new toy, I was surprised by how intuitive it was. When I finally read the manual, I was amazed by the extras: numerous sensitivity and discrimination settings; depth indicators; and audio and visual cues denoting points on the metallic spectrum. I seized upon the notch-mode feature, to notch-out iron. With the iron filing content of New England sand, I had been beeping down the beach like a pinball machine.

Easily compacted, it shares the corner of my trunk with my emergency road kit and telescoping fishing rod. This adjustable length unit has a particularly good center of balance. I’m six feet and my wife is 5’-2”, and we both can go comfortably for hours without getting stiff or tired.

But even the finest metal detector can never find treasure on its own. That’s your job. Just like any other tool, a metal detector is only as good as its operator.

I’m glad that I cut my teeth with the Titan 2000XD. It’s like the philosophy of learning to drive a stick shift, because then you’ll have mastered the basics when you drive an automatic with more power and precision. I learned to hear an aluminum can or underground steel cable, and could play name that object with just a few notes. A boxer wouldn’t want to make his rookie mistakes during a title fight, and the same is true with metal detecting. (My first was celebrating when the clump of dirt in my hand beeped off the chart as gold, only to realize the perfect reading of my wedding ring.)

I've been detecting a few years now, my son and I love to hunt for old coins with our Titan 2000 XD. We would like to detect for Civil War items but we can't acquire a site for that.

I have several detectors that I use, but I always keep coming back ot the Titan 2000. I have found so much with it! It's because I use it ALL the time!

The Titan just feels so good to me, it just fits me, like a nice pair of jeans. It feels good to my arm and the balance is nice. I love the tones, I think that's my favorite part. The discrimination works fine but the tones are what I like. My other detectors also get some use, but the Titan is always within reach.

It's really hard to describe but, when something fits right, something is a part of you, you know it! That's what the Titan 2000 is to me!

This is more of a thank you to KELLYCO than a review. I'll try to make a long story short. I have never been metal detecting and the only thing I new about the hobby was what I had seen on TV or read in books. But it is something I always wanted to do. Over the holidays, both my brother and brother-in-law received metal detectors for Christmas and during a family gathering we started talking. I found out they both have been wanting to do this for years (my brother owns a 14 acre farm from the 1700's). That was all I needed to hear. The next day I was all over the internet looking for a metal detector and after days of researching I kept coming up with one name, KELLYCO. So I went to their site. Being a beginner, I didn’t want to spend too much on my first detector (not over $200). After looking over all the different detectors in my price range, I decided on the Texas Titan 1000 XD w/ 7.25" coil ($199.95). It had all the features I thought I needed and the reviews were very good. It also came with a lot of freebies including shipping. So it was a done deal. I ordered it from KELLYCO and 4 days later it was here. When I opened the box I knew something was not right. This was not a Titan 1000 XD. I could tell the LCD screen was different. When I unwrapped it from the rest of the foam I could see it was a Titan 2000 XD. The first thing I thought was they shipped me the wrong one. But after sorting through all the papers that came with it, I found the packing slip. To my surprise it said KELLYCO upgraded me to a Titan 2000 XD free of charge ($299.95). I couldn’t believe my luck. It has more features and an 8" coil. So far my start in metal detecting has been great thanks to KELLYCO and I haven’t even been out in the field yet. I just hope the luck stays with me. Thank you to KELLYCO for great customer service. You have a customer for life.
